Last July, Nutrition Month reminded us that true health goes far beyond the basic food groups—it’s about building a sustainable, active lifestyle as we grow.
A balanced life means fueling our bodies with the right food while finding physical activities that complement our goals. For our featured paddler, Donna, striking that perfect balance is second nature. She shared her journey, revealing how the dragon boat and her other sports power her active lifestyle — all while still enjoying the food she loves!

A friend invited me to watch the Iloilo international dragon boat Festival in 2025. I was already doing running races, but it felt like a great new challenge so I eventually joined the team.

It’s exciting and fun. It’s also inspiring to see teamwork and coordination at work, with the same goal for everyone to succeed. I think we can all learn from this

For our training day, I wake up at 3am to get ready and arrive on time at our training site. We spend 3 hours doing drills and challenges and finish with a nice meal together, sometimes with karaoke. After that I feel energized for the rest of the day.
